FRIDAY 3RD FEBRUARY 2012 I regret to inform you that all Saturday's games (4th Feb 2012) have been postponed due to the extensive frost on the pitches. That's over 7 games postponed this week alone due to the frost. Hopefully the weather picks up soon and we can continue with our season.
SATURDAY 28TH JANUARY 2012 Unfortunately all secondary school games scheduled for today were cancelled due to the frost making all pitches unplayable for our games. It is hoped that the weather improves soon and allows our cup games to hopefully be played in the near future.
SUNDAY 22ND JANUARY 2012 As was the case last week, only one game survived the biting frost. Oldmachar ran out comfortable 7-0 winners against Kincorth. All leagues are up to date as of today.
SUNDAY 15TH JANUARY 2012 Only one game went ahead in Aberdeen this weekend and it was played at Spain Park. Oldmachar were beaten 2-0 by Inverurie in the quarter final of the AFC Trophy at U14 level. There will be a match report on the website soon. The cup draws have been updated.
WEDNESDAY 11TH JANUARY 2012 Robert Gordon's College U13 and U14 teams have been disqualified from the CNR International League. Harlaw U14 team have also been disqualified from the CNR League. Their games that had been played have now been withdrawn. They are: U13 Robert Gordon's College - Robert Gordon's 9 -1 Torry, Robert Gordon's 3 -2 Hazlehead U14 Robert Gordon's College - Hazlehead 3 - 2 Robert Gordon's, Robert Gordon's 6 - 2 Mintlaw U14 Harlaw Academy - Bucksburn 5 - 1 Harlaw, Oldmachar 7 - 2 Harlaw, Harlaw 1 - 8 Hazlehead The leagues have been updated accordingly.
SUNDAY 18TH DECEMBER 2011 All games scheduled for Saturday 17th of December were cancelled due to the frost on the pitches. We have been very fortunate with regards the weather this season so far with only the last two weekends really causing any disruption to ASSFA games. Lets hope the good weather continues after the holidays.
MONDAY 12TH DECEMBER 2011 All games from Saturday 10th December were called off due to the heavy frost. This made the pitches unsafe for our youngsters to play and the decision was made to reschedule these games.
SATURDAY 26TH NOVEMBER 2011 The Aberdeen U15 Select suffered a setback on Friday with a 3-1 loss to Edinburgh. At 0-0, Aberdeen had two goals disallowed which would have put them in a comfortable position. However, a fantastic strike by an Edinburgh centre forward put the away side in front. They added to their lead after the ball fell in the box. Aberdeen hit back straight away with a fantastic strike from Neil Cooper. With pressure building, Aberdeen had a chance to secure a draw with the last play of the game. Nine Aberdeen players were in the oppositions box for a corner but the ball was cleared and left the Edinburgh striker to run the whole length of the pitch and score past the keeper. This result means that Aberdeen must rely on Aberdeenshire getting some kind of result against Dundee to progress to the quarter finals. All league games went ahead today in local leagues. The results and league table pages have been updated and are correct as of Sunday 27/11/2011. Also in the Senior President's Trophy St Machar beat Cults 6-3 to progress into the final. They will face Grammar who beat Kincorth in the other semi final 8-1. The final date and venue will be decided shortly.
FRIDAY 18TH NOVEMBER 2011 Aberdeen senior select secured their progression into the quarter final of the National trophy with a comfortable 11 - 3 victory over Perth and Kinross. The lads will be looking forward to the quarter final draw in the near future. The U15 select secured a 0 - 0 draw with rivals Dundee to add an extra point to the three they achieved by beating Aberdeenshire. The players produced a strong performance and played some good football, despite the pitch being not conjusive to the passing game. This means that if the boys can secure at least a point against Edinburgh, they will progress into the quarter finals. However, if they secure a win then the team will top their group - ensuring a vital home tie in the next round. All fixtures are correct as of tonight with a couple of cancelled games and an additional fixture added late on. Referees (if available) have been allocated to games by the Association. With deadlines approaching, time is short to get the games played and a committee meeting is scheduled for the start of December to discuss any unplayed games.
FRIDAY 11TH NOVEMBER 2011 Aberdeen U15 select started their National trophy campaign with a 4-2 win against local rivals Aberdeenshire. They now travel to Dundee on Thursday 17th November to hopefully add another three points to their position in the league. The senior select squad returned from Dundee on Thursday with a hard-fought 3-2 win in an entertaining affair. The boys battled back from being 2-1 down at half time to secure 3 points that is added to the point they gained against Aberdeenshire last week. All fixtures are correct for Saturday 12th November and any referees available have been appointed to games.
SATURDAY 29TH OCTOBER 2011 All leagues have been updated as of today (Saturday 29th October) and results have been updated since the new term. The Senior select drew 3-3 with their Aberdeenshire opponents at Bellslea on Thursday. Unfortunately, the city lost the penalty shoot out which may prove crucial if the teams are even at the end of the group stages. Also, the U15 select have their game rearranged V Aberdeenshire for Wednesday 2nd November. The game will take place at Turriff United F.C’s ground, the Haughs, Turriff, with a kick off of 6:30pm.
TUESDAY 25TH OCTOBER 2011 Dyce U13 team have been withdrawn from the CNR International League. Their games that had been played have now been withdrawn. They are: Kincorth 8 - 0 Dyce, Dyce 2 - 6 Hazlehead, Dyce 3 - 7 Albyn, Dyce 12 - 4 Torry. The league has been updated accordingly.
MONDAY 24TH OCTOBER 2011 Bridge of Don U15 team have been withdrawn from the CNR International league. On a seperate note, good luck to the two select teams who have their first National Trophy fixtures this week. The U15's will play against Aberdeenshire on Wednesday 26th October at Turriff F.C, The Haughs, Turriff with a 6:30pm kick off. Also, the Senior select will play against Aberdeenshire on Thursday 27th October at Fraserburgh F.C, Bellslea, Fraserburgh with a 7:00pm kick off.
THURSDAY 13TH OCTOBER 2011 The holidays are here! The Senior Preseidents Trophy group stages are complete and the draw for the semi finals is: CULTS V ST MACHAR and GRAMMAR V KINCORTH The website is as up to date as possible with leagues, cup draws and fixtures for the select teams all correct, as of Monday 10th October 2011. All team reps are advised to play games as early as possible and ensure that they stick to the deadlines given at the very start of the season. I have listed the league deadlines below for reference. If your team does not keep to these deadlines then the team may be excluded from the league. U13 League - Teams must play a minimum of HALF their league games by start of December. (This equates to 7 league games) U14 League - Teams must play a minimum of HALF their league games by start of December. (This equates to 7 league games) U15 League - Teams must play a minimum of HALF their league games by start of December. (This equates to 4 league games) U16 League - Teams must play a minimum of FIVE league games by Christmas holidays. Additionally, I would advise all team reps, if possible, to play cup matches as soon as possible and not wait until near the deadline to play these fixtures. Lastly, thank you to the vast majority of team reps who have kept the secretary informed about upcoming games and scores very efficiently. This has allowed the information to be collated relatively quickly.
SUNDAY 2ND OCTOBER 2011 All leagues have been updated after this weeks fixtures and can be seen on the "leagues" page on the website. WEDNESDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER 2011 The select squads (Senior and U15) have been finalised for the upcoming season. A big thanks to all the players for their efforts who attended the trail days. As soon as games are organised, the information will be available through your school football rep as well as on the website.
